Work of the People (Advent)

Advent
Nov. 27, 2022 – Jan. 1, 2023

Advent is a season of waiting and expectation, of embracing the tension and difficulty of promises that are not yet fulfilled. This Advent, we continue our theme of liturgy, worship, and church life being the work of the people.

Message line-up:

11/27
Awakening
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

As people who want to be prepared for Jesus to show up, our first order of business is to make sure we are not asleep when he gets here. What does it mean to be fully awake to God’s presence and work?

Matthew 3:1-12; Romans 15:4-13
12/4
Integrity
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

The prophets of Israel and the apostles of the Church spoke of the work of the messiah as integrated: inclusive of groups typically left on the margins. Christ’s fulfillment of these words crossed boundaries of all kinds, giving us a faith of integrity and wholeness.

Spectacular
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

From the sensational imagery of the prophet Isaiah to the miraculous healings of Jesus, the Kingdom of God is a spectacle. But what do we do when real life does not seem to fit that description? James tells us: be patient.
