Widows and Orphans

The call to care for the marginalized
Jan. 22, 2017 – Jan. 29, 2017

The book of James tells us, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress.” In this brief series, we will consider the Bible’s call to care for widows and orphans, hearing from Artisan members who are invested in caring for each of these communities.

Message line-up:

Caring for Widows
Pastor Scott Austin with Dr. Dallas Nelson

After a summary of the Bible’s call to care for widows, we are joined by Dr. Dallas Nelson, a geriatrician with wonderful insight into the needs of the elderly in our community.

Caring for Orphans
Pastor Scott Austin with Anna and Pat McDermott

After a summary of the Bible’s call to care for orphans, we are joined by an Artisan family who is in the process of adopting a child from a local agency. They will share about their experience and the insight it has given them into the need in our community.
