Faith at Work

Following Jesus “Beyond Our Walls”
Feb. 9, 2014 – March 2, 2014

When it’s all said and done, most of us will have spent a significant portion of our waking hours at work. In our yearlong pursuit to follow Jesus “Beyond Our Walls”, we stop and think about what it means to live out the gospel in the context of our vocational pursuits. Whether you’re a doctor, a custodian, a stay-at-home parent, or currently unemployed, this series will have something important to say to you!

Message line-up:

2/9
Work In Paradise
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

In the Bible, work was part of God’s good creation, even before sin entered the world. Knowing God’s original design for work can help us find our work—whatever it may be—more purposeful.

2/16
Toil and Thorns
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

As a result of the fall, our work is tainted and inhibited by brokenness and sin. Recognizing this reality can help us understand some of the challenges we face at work and offer a framework for how to address them.

2/23
Bringing the Gospel to Bear at Work
Listen

As followers of Jesus, we must live out our faith in our workplace—and this means so much more than trying to convert our coworkers and giving part of our salary to the church. How can we be agents of Christ’s good news in our vocational life?

3/2
Vocational Roundtables
Listen

In an effort to bring theory into reality, we’ll host a panel discussion with Artisan representatives from each of several vocational fields. And then following worship, we’ll invite the whole community to continue and extend this discussion over a potluck lunch.
