Faith at Home

Following Jesus “Beyond Our Walls”
Jan. 5, 2014 – Feb. 2, 2014

This year we are focusing on how to live our faith “Beyond Our Walls”, and it starts at home. What does following Jesus at home look like for you? Are there areas that need improvement? What does it mean to be a Christian in your family life? We’ll discuss these questions and more.

Message line-up:

1/5
Cleaning House
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

First things first: let’s take inventory of our own spiritual house. What successes can you build upon? What shortcomings do you need to address? What plan will you put in place to live your faith at home?

1/12
Cleaning House, Part Two
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

In a change of plans, we continued our discussion from last week, reviewing the results of our congregational survey and talking about how we can improve our efforts to live our faith at home.

1/19
Intermission: Churchwide Visit to Baber AME
Listen

As part of our “Beyond Our Walls” initiative, our entire congregation worshiped with Baber AME Church, a predominantly African American congregation. Pastor Scott gave a sermon there about true Christian friendship, which follows Jesus’ model of being both empty and present.

1/26
Relationships at Home
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

Our faith is deeply relational, and the home is the center point of many important relationships: spouse, family, neighbors, and more. Is your home a place where you live and share Christ’s peace?

2/2
Home As A Sanctuary
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

We conclude our series with an encouragement to make our homes into sanctuaries: places of worship and devotion, yes, but also of safe harbor for others who cross our paths.
