Epiphany 2021

Jan. 10, 2021 – Feb. 14, 2021

The season of Epiphany is a time to reflect on Jesus being revealed to the world. In a time of great deception and distortion in our society, it is a deep need for Christians to reflect on the truth of who Jesus reveals God to be—and who that calls us to be.

Message line-up:

What Does the Voice Say?
Pastor Scott Austin

In the story of Jesus being baptized, we read of a voice coming from heaven—the same Voice that spoke the world into being and has the power to shake its foundation. What does the Voice say to Jesus? To us?

Mark 1:4-11, Psalm 29, Genesis 1:1-5
Known and Called
Pastor Scott Austin
Read transcript

God knows each of us intimately. It is in knowing us that God calls each of us to something bigger than ourselves. And if scripture is any indication, this calling is likely to happen before we even know God!

Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18; 1 Samuel 3:1-10; John 1:43-51
Decide and Act
Pastor Scott Austin

When God speaks—through a prophet or through the ministry of Jesus—the people who decide and act quickly are the ones who make it into the stories that last. What is God saying to you today?

Psalm 62:5-12; Jonah 3:1-5, 10; Mark 1:14-20
Knowledge Puffs Up
Pastor Scott Austin

When we become free in Christ, it is very tempting to force our newfound knowledge on those around us. But this does them no good; it only ever leads to destruction. May we never wound others with our own redemption.

1 Corinthians 8:1-13
Wait and Renew
Pastor Scott Austin

Isaiah 40:31 says, “those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength.” Today, we will practice a particular kind of waiting on God, trusting that the prayer and reflection will renew our strength.

Isaiah 40:21-31
Transfiguration Sunday
Rev. Matthew Nickoloff

We examine one of the most mystical—and mystifying!—passages of the New Testament. And once again, we hear the Voice naming Jesus the Beloved Son.

Mark 9:2-9
