Advent

Waiting With Jesus
December 2 – December 23, 2018

We mark the dawn of a new liturgical year with of Advent, the season of hopeful waiting for the coming of Jesus—both at Christmas and at his return. This Advent, let us admit our doubt, embracing the uncertainty of the world as we joyfully wait for (and with!) Jesus.

Message line-up:

12/2
Waiting in Shame
Pastor Scott Austin
Listen

Advent is a season of anticipation and waiting. But waiting is not always joyful; in fact, it can sometimes leave us feeling ashamed and in doubt. These feelings are acknowledged, and reassured, in scripture.

12/9
You’re Headed In The Right Direction
Rev. Denise Lynn Smith
Listen

There are times in our lives when we need a sign that tells us we are headed in the right direction, we are in the right lane, we are headed in the right direction?  Similarly to the Israelites in the wilderness, we need a sign to guide us through the wildernesses especially considering the current political climate. A sign that gives us hope and assurance. That sign is Jesus Christ and he will lead us in the right direction while we follow the bright and morning star. Have we checked out the signs times? Are we doing the things that God desires, and are we headed in the right direction?

12/16
Fruitless Repentance
Pastor Scott Austin

Repentance that is about outward appearance is no repentance at all. True repentance results in fruit, including the surrender of our appetite for material wealth.

12/23
The Blessed Mother
Pastor Scott Austin

Mary the mother of Jesus was declared to be considered blessed by all generations. In Mary, we have an incredible example of obedience, faithfulness, and abiding love. She is blessed indeed!
