Core Affirmations

Our first desire is to follow in the “ancient paths” of the generous orthodoxy revealed in Scripture, affirmed in the consensual creeds of the early church, and embodied in the life of Jesus’ followers throughout time and across cultures.

Yet we equally recognize Christ’s call to contextualize his gospel — without compromising its core — by providing “new wineskins” that will allow the effervescent work of God’s Spirit to reach its full-bodied potential.

These simple statements are our humble attempt at articulating God’s vision for his church at Artisan as we partner with his redemptive purposes.

Mission, Values, and Beliefs

Artisan Church’s Mission is to be a vibrant church community:

Encountering God, Embracing People, and Engaging Culture in the Way of Jesus. (Mk 12:28-34, Mt 28:18-20, 9:9-17, Acts 17:22-34, Jn 14:6-7)

These biblical Values shape our journey together:

Awe. We humbly recognize the sovereign power, reverent mystery, and gracious wonder of God, who is worthy of our worship and full devotion.
(Ps 118:23, Job 5:9, Job 26:1-14, Rom 11:33, 1 Cor 13:12, Heb 12:18-29)

Beauty. We are inspired by the breathtaking artistry of our Creator and seek to reflect that beauty in all we do as we co-create with him.
(Ps 27:4, Ex 31:2-5, 35:35, 2 Chronicles 2:7, Eph 2:10, Philip 4:8)

Roots. We are deeply rooted in the historic Christian Faith as revealed in Scripture and worked out in the life of God’s people through the ages.
(Prov 12:3b, 12b, Jer 6:16a, 17:7-8, Mt 13:6b, Col 2:6-7, 2 Thess 2:15)

Community. We are a covenantal family of authentic relationships and reconciliation in the image of God, who exists in perfect communion as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — yet One God.
(Jn 13:34-35, 17:20-23, Acts 2:43-47, Hosea 2:18-20, Gal 3:27-28, Rom 12:3-8, 1 Peter 2:9-10)

Justice. We are captivated by the heart of God for hurting people and a suffering creation, seeking to bring compassion to those needs and a just end to their underlying causes.
(Amos 5:24, Prov 21:3, Micah 6:8, Isaiah 1:16-17, 58:6-9a, Hosea 4:1-3, Mt 25:31-46, Romans 8:18-24, James 1:27)
